I asked about the start of BST (British Summer Time)

So then I ask Google. Much better. Google really have the voice recognition nailed.

One could argue I might have phrased my question better but if Google can manage my request, why can't Siri? It could have searched the web if it didn't fully recognise what I was saying.

Apple doesn't like Google :p so in an ideal world, they could use Google's algorithm or database for voice recognition too but they want to do their own.

See the whole Maps/Google Maps saga.

Well it's not so much the Apple vs Google stuff, it's what the hell was Siri thinking I was asking it, for it to suggest restaurants! :D

I rarely use the voice search, but when I have also noticed Google is way better at getting the right results and just understanding what I say than Siri.

Is there an app so when I disable Siri I can use activator to enable google voice via long hold on home button

Ironically on my iPad three the voice input for google search etc is very efficient...

I mentioned in another thread that software isn't Apple's strong point. They're a consumer electronics company first and foremost, and it shows.

I think it's fairly clear that Siri was intended as a headline-grabber and marketing tool first, rather than something genuinely useful. That will come, I'm sure.

Am I the only one who noticed that the response from Siri missed out the word "from"?

"three of them are a short while you"

LOL! But even with 'from' that doesn't make sense. I never speak of things as being "a short while from me". A short distance perhaps.

Good point. I'm not sure how it would normally respond. I've had an iphone with Siri since September and only used it once.

Voice command searching etc is just a gimmick, it will never work 100% and by the time it correctly translates what you want or want to do, you could have used your hands and done the same with less frustration.
