Why is Svchost.exe running so many times?

many services run under the same svchost

remove whatever program you're using to monitor that, can be sure that its probably slowing your pc down!

just use taskmanager or process explorer from sysinternals

process explorer will tell you which services depend on which svchost file

start, run, services.msc

stop and disable services you don't need..

I had a look but really havent a clue what services to disable or enable.

i wouldn't bother. my windows is heavily tweaked and i still have 5 instances of svchost running.

Ok yeah I have done a scan and the system is clean but.. I have found the proccess that is causing all the headaches. It is DLLML.exe and it is from Creative Labs. It is crippling my restarts/shutdowns I'm having to wait 4 to 5 mins until the system will respond.

I found out this was causing it thanks to system mechanic, and some proccess elimanation.

Now how do I get rid of it? is it wise to disable it full time?

Edit:

I have Hijack this somewhere that would do the trick yes?

Bytw

i want it stopped. its not in services.msc, and its not in msconfig. it might be in the registry, but i hate having to fiddle with it unless i know 100% for sure that im getting rid of it properly
