Why is switching phones on Android so bad?

Not sure what I'm missing here, I've been and Android user since it began and I still can't seem to fathom as to why switching phones is so awful and lengthy.
Why is it that when I swtich from 1 handset to another I essentially have to re-login, re-enable or re-authenticate literally every app that I use. (banking apps I get btw :))
I use Google One for handset backups, Google Authenticator and store all my login details in Google's Password manager yet it only seems to restore the apps I used, messages and calls.

Its doesn't carry across logins, notification settings (I turn app notifications off mostly), game backups, Android Auto config, music downloads etc etc...so whats the point of these backups for switching?

Seem this is one area where iOS have Android beat hands down (still not swtiching though ) but as I like to change my phone every 12 months or so I dread the task....

Am I doing it wrong?

I felt the same after my last switch which was Samsung to Samsung and I still had to set everything up again.

Then last month I did it on iOS for my mum on her new phone and it's exactly the same! Every app needed logging in to, it didn't carry across her ridiculous big font size or her eye melting full screen brightness.

It was just the same an android, across went your apps and photos everything else was like you had just downloaded the apps fresh from the app store.

So you are not alone if we are doing something wrong but at this stage I treat it like a reinstall of windows and it gives me the opportunity to de clutter my phone

Just about to switch my wife's phone from an old Moto G9 Plus to a Samsung A55. What software would you recommend to do this? Is Smart Switch just for Samsung to Samsung?

I took my phone for a swim in the summer (it didn't recover) and had to set up my replacement new phone from scratch. Nothing can be as bad as that!

Smart Switch is for Anything > Samsung and I've found is the most reliable method. It's also the only reliable method I've found to move WhatsApp messages over. It basically creates an iTunes backup of the iPhone and extracts data from the backup so does take quite a while if you have a lot of data

Having to log in again makes sense, it's a new device so for services that keep track of how many devices/sessions you have they'd need the new log-in to register that, plus with MFA enabled wherever available it shouldn't be possible to automate it anyway.

I've used Smart Switch a few times now, never had any issues, copies across accounts etc and from memory, most app logins. Can't say I've got many issues with it

Never had any issues tbh and iv switched from a note to a fold to an s23.
I wouldnt expect it to carry across login details - that seems like a massive security risk.

As far as I can tell it copies your Google account, which may have logins for somethings stored, as well as Samsung pass which again may have some things stored. So it doesn't copy them explicitly but as a result of copying those accounts.

When you backed up the iPhone did you encrypt the backup with a password?
I'm sure when you do that even passwords are backed up.

Well that's probably down to the banks security detecting a new device is being used to log in. That is security how it should be and I would not want it to be any other way.
I'm the same.

I'm wondering what others are moaning about.
