why is the 4400+ more exspensive than the 4600 + on this sales site ?

surely the 4600+ is better as its a more recent model, can any one explain ?

The 4400+ has double the L2 cache, the big price cuts introduced on 939 mostly applied to the 512KB models (4600 is two 64 3800+, 4400 is two 64 3700+).

Could possibly be higher demand for them due to the 2x1MB cache, also I think AMD are phasing out the 2x1MB models so there may be restricted supplies coming up as well.

Yeah - AMD slashed the prices of the 512KB cache CPUs but not the 1MB cache chips. They've also discontinued the 1MB cache chips leading to supply shortages which will only increase prices

Having said that though, OCUK has got a great deal on the 1MB cache chips as they are officially not discounted and discontinued

If I were buying a new CPU I'd go for the X2 4400+ due to the extra cache. The extra clock speed is easily made up for by a spot of overclocking - not so the cache!
