why is the post count so high to access the MM?

just wondering.... as the title says really. i dont like posting random crap to get my post count up so its going up rather slowly. but 1000 posts to gain access to it is a little high dont you think? why not something like "be signed up for 6 months at least with a post count of 500"
anybody else agree?
 
It has been debated before, several times in your period of attachment to this forum, if you were active and regular you would know this.
The thread would be unneeded, the most recent thread on this matter was within the past few weeks.
Keep the rule as it is.

i am an active member however i dont check every single sub forum so if i dont check that part then posts get lost etc. if i searched the question then it may not have answered my question entirely so i asked it how i wanted it to be answered
