Why is there a choice of delivery dates on checkout?

...because if you can't honour it, what's the point?

Ordered a Sapphire 6950 yesterday, chose the 20th July as the delivery date (the order was before 4PM yesterday, and your cut-off is 4:30 apparently). Just got the dispatch confirmation today. Brilliant. May as well have waited and bought a 6950 Twin FrozR III.

One of the things that gets me buying at OCUK is the free shipping, with a choice of delivery dates. Now you only offer DX Secure as free shipping, who are terrible round here (plus no delivery estimate), unlike DPD, and picking next day is essentially pointless.

You got unlucky... it happens.

Tho I have to agree about DX Secure... they've let me down 2 times out of 3 times I've used them.

I know **** happens, but it's not the first time since DX Secure took over free deliveries.

It's annoying as you tend to plan your week around these things, and if they give a specific date it's really inconvenient if they can't match it.

How close was it to 4p.m.?

I wouldn't be surprised if wasn't possible to get it dispatched due to having a large amount of orders before yours.

Apparently the next day delivery cut-off is 4:30 anyway, and it was at 3:46PM. I don't have these issues at other shops who also provide free delivery.

Besides which, judging by the time I got the email today, I wouldn't be surprised if OCUK's DX Secure pick up is around 12PM anyway, so anything after that wouldn't go out 'til next day anyway.

/rage

I was planning on buying another 6950 today (as money becomes available), but am now not sure whether I should bother with OCUK (doesn't help that the Sapphire 6950 is now way more expensive than elsewhere).

Oh boohoo, your delivery came a day later. It's not as if you paid anything for postage. If you don't get a dispatch email the night you ordered it then expect it to come the day after next. OCUKs shipping time is fantastic compared to some other etailers, even if it isn't next day.

Actually it hasn't come yet, so that's assuming it's delivered tomorrow, which is hardly any guarantee with DX Secure.

Nice brown-nosing you have there.

Funnily enough, if you choose a delivery date, and you're a fair bit before the cut off, I wouldn't find it unreasonable to expect it to arrive on that day.

It's not an issue with 4 E-shops I regularly use but can't mention for obvious reasons, and they often have later cut-offs anyway (5PM, 5:30PM, 6PM, 11PM). They all manage it, and I get free shipping with two of those too (5:30 and 6).
