Why is there nothing like quake or timesplitters around anymore?

Perhaps they're two different kinds of multiplayer but they're the two that come to mind when i think about classic multiplier on pc and console, it feels like it's been quite a few years since we've seen either a fast paced classic multiplayer like quake or silly but good fun one like timesplitters, i know there's stuff like tf2 and serious sam but they're different and neither of them appeal to me in the same way as quake 3/elite force or timesplitters/goldeneye did, what's going on?

I also miss instagib which for those who don't know is a one shot kills perfectly accurate weapon/game mode, theres nothing like this around in any modern games as far as i know, since the multiplayer games of old i've noticed how weapons have become more and more annoying to add 'realism', you have larger bullet spread if you move and recoil as you shoot pushing your view upwards, sure perhaps it adds an element of skill but it arguably takes just as much to hit a moving target with the same weapon as you who wants to kill you before you do him, where it all comes down to pure accuracy and timing, theres nothing like it.
