I thought i knew the rules of chess, but clearly i don't

Why is this a draw and not an eventual win for me?

And I think it's to do with if you've only the King left, he only has to live for a certain amount of moves before a game's drawn.

Stalemate - Its because the king can only move into a space that would put him in check

Its stalemate because there is no where the opposition can move their king so no way for them to take their move.

All wrong. It's a stalemate.

Basically (assuming it's black's move), the black king can't move anywhere. But it's not currently in check, so it's not a checkmate. So it's a stalemate and thus a draw. That rule is there as an incentive for a player with only a king left to keep playing - he might get a draw instead of a loss.

*edit: when I said all wrong, nobody had said stalemate yet...
