why is this memory so cheap? or is it a typo?

hi guys,

I'm looking to buy some relatively inexpensive DDR3 memory at the end of the month for an I7 rig that i am working on building and i saw this on OCuk

is their a particular reason why that memory is so cheap compared not only to other brands of DDR3 memory but also to the other competing stores selling the same kit on the internet for almost double the price? Cos at those prices, i don't know if it's me or what but i kind of feel a bit dubious about buying that memory kit at that price.

by the way, can anyone confirm that the memory will run nicely with the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 motherboard?

Theres nothing wrong with the memory, its just a very good price. Ive used G.skill RAM with gigabyte motherboards before (I am now as it happens) I dont see any reason it would be incompatible.

i guess it's just my sense of paranoia kicking in tbh, getting ready to buy new kit and wanting reassurances that it's all compatible and that nothing is going to go wrong, and also being used to having to pay premium prices for premium kit this is a pleasent suprise.

yeah, after doing some price checking in google i found that they are still £70+ in some other shops which is why i wondered if it was a typo.

If you think about it though anyone who's going onto a DDR3 platform now is in a win win situation with memory that cheap. I mean why would you buy any dual channel DDR3 memory kits at £80+ when you can get that stuff for £40 and have enough memory to go between 2 or even 3 systems when its cheaper to buy that than dual channel kits and many other tripple channel kits.
