I know it has recently gone down, but 15% on every item you buy is a lot. Just bought some speaker and the VAT was £1.20, seems silly as the speakers are only £7 without. I propose VAT be reduced to 5%.

Also, my speakers where the free 1st class royal mail ocuk thingymajigy first time i've used it i think, makes buying small purchases like that more worthwhile, who reckons it will be here tomorrow?

It's not a silly thing i'm on about. Yes the government make lots of money on it, but where is the logic. I go to a shop, the shop sells me an item, the shop sourced the item for the makers. WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT GET MONEY OUT OF THIS.

I'd love that to happen but how do you tax people who normally wouldn't pay as much as others?

How would government introduce all the daft little taxes that drive us up the wall either :D

1 fixed tax payment monthly based on your wage, it would make sense, why should a rich man pay the same vat on an item as a poorer person.

Because they made a law that says they do. If you don't like it, vote for someone who is prepared to do something else (good luck finding them), or stand for election yourself.

By the way, you can expand that argument to any tax. Why does the government get income tax from your salary? Did they do 22% (or 40%) of your work? I don't think so.

i'm not working enough hours to be in any taxband yet :D but don't worry, when i am, i will soon start moaning.

Also THANKS OCUK, just had an e-mail saying my speakers have been shipped :D

They're OK (good at the price). Far better than the average laptop speakers for example. They're light and made of plastic though so don't expect miracles in the bass department.

Don't worry I'm not, i was just going for the cheapest speakers that aren't completely tacky. I have the same set but with the woofer but they are 100miles away :p

benefits should be scrapped.

all military forces (navy, army, special forces, raf, sas) should be shut down - why bother wasting hundreds of billions every year on this when we dont need it, america would help us in any situation that occured

prisons should be de-nationalised - would create jobs and new companies, would stop tax being spent on people who dont deserve it, would also mean that prisoners serve their full terms and stop judges from letting criminals going free because theres no space for them

all politicians should have set wages, the people running the country should know what it feels like to be on a normal average wage.

all the extra money should be pumped into schools, nhs, emergency services, repairing roads, creating new super highways to prevent road traffic, creating jobs, etc.

tbh, the first thing that should happen is england cut off your tax supply, that'll teach you!
