Why is Vista slow at getting my second drive going?

I have two SATA-II drvies in this machine, the first drive holds Vista and the other mp3s only.

Whenever I try to access the mp3 drives it has to spin up for a few seconds which is really annoying. This never used to be the case in XP, you could go straight into it with no problems. Anyone know why this happens in Vista and not XP?

If one is ok then the other should be really? Have you got the latest chipset drivers?

i think its due to vista power saving, check out the power options, i think if the drive is inactive for a set time it puts it in a low power mode, so when you click to go on it, its gotta power back up. Im sure there is a power option to disable it so its always ready to be used.

Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings
