Cold boot and it connects during the boot sequence to the point that you can open and use a connection for a few seconds, then before it has finished booting completely it will drop the connection and some random time later reconnect if you are lucky, often you have to go and tell it to even though it has been told to connect automatically. Same for resuming from standby/hibernate, it's almost enough to make me go back to XP on the laptop.

Mmmm, wonder if it's my specific settings then. Wierd though as my Father has the same issue using a different router.

I have found with every non functioning wireless Vista laptop, they all have had the ip address specified as well as DNS gateway. These should be set to auto detect. I wonder why they default to this?

I find wireless setup and connection in vista to be far easier andoveral better than my XP wireless

I've never had any major problems getting a connection, I hate vista networking with a passion, it just takes ages to change anything but it generally works all right. Personally I gave up on vista the moment I realized battery life on my laptop was 35% worse than it was with XP...
