I know nothing about toilets by the way. :p

When i push the button flush, nothing happens. It isn't 'catching' on anything to make it work.

- Water at the bottom is around 2cm deep.
- When i push the white circle in the middle (i assume this is meant to make it flush and is in line with the push button flush that is in the centre of the toilet), nothing happens.
- On the right hand side, there is a small trickle of water dripping down and the white 'weight' is hanging down. If i raise it up, the water stops but it just falls down again.

Any ideas?

It looks like your Torbeck side entry ball valve might be faulty, that is the thing on the right side where the water comes through. Try opening it up and cleaning up, sometimes dirt can get stuck in there. If that doesn't work then try replacing the washer inside it, if that doesn't work then it needs to be replaced. The white thing on the right hand side is a float, when water fills up the float gets lifted up and water should stop filling.

If you need to flush the toilet, fill it up manually with water, then try flushing. If that works then you know the flush mechanism is working ok.

The weight is a float and supposed to sit on the water. In the down position it should be letting plenty of water in. Check to see if it can go further down or for blockages from the water pipe

is it constantly filling up but running out the bottom? i had this with our toilet the other day. the flush mechanism got stuck and after a few flushes it clicked and closed it off as it should after each flush.

I've noticed this, you put food in one end but it keeps running out the other.
I'm babysitting the smelly sprog tonight so I'll give the flush idea a try, would two pints of warm milk do the trick do you think?
