Coming home tonight and I overtook a large car transporter with around 8 Jaguar XJ's on board.

Looking at the bottom row, I noticed that the beautiful alloy wheels had friggin' balancing weights on the outside of them

What is the world coming too? And who employes these monkies?

:(

Yes, damn them for making the cars safe

Sometimes it isn't possible to do on the inner edge due to how unbalanced the wheels are.

Also, you spotted this as you were driving past, wtf? Get your eyes on the road tbqfh.

my passenger pointed it out. There were about 8 weights on the outer rim and unless the wheel is incredibly unbalanced there is no need for the weight on the outside of an alloy, bearing in mind all proper wheel balancing is done with the outside face of the wheel set to 0 I can't see why this would be the case, and on a jag too.

I see this everywhere, it is one of my pet hates. Although if its got to be done, its got to be done.

Im sure they could manage to get them on the inside more than they do though.

the guy who fitted the tyres to my alloys on my old golf did this.

i had a go at him and called him stupid.

surely putting silver wheel wheights on the outside of BLACK alloy wheels is stupid ?

To be fair, I cant imagine most garages being given to many black alloys to balance.

I can understand you being angry as it would look daft, but does him trying to make your vehicle safe make him stupid?

As stated previously, in some cases the weights have to go on the outside in order to balance the weel properly which is a shame in your case.

Yeh I wouldnt have thought they would have to take the wheel off, although they might depending on how easy access was from the back.
