I'm back baby!
Why must micro chips be cooked from frozen?

I have some defrosted microwaveable chips (oh the joys of nightshifts!) to eat with a home-made meat and tatey pie, but I thought they'd be fine defrosted, however the package states that they must be cooked from frozen.

I can't think of why.

Is it even possible to get non-soggy micro chips? even from frozen?

Yeah, they've come on leaps and bounds in the past several years. They can be quite nice now (though these ones I have here certainly aren't, they're just something to accompany my pie).

Yeah I think it's just the soggy factor. You could cook them for slightly longer to bring to moisture out maybe? I dunno.
They'll be coming from a warmer temp though, so that'll even out.

Right, well in the interests of science I'm gonna try them from room temps.

FYI they were rubbish from frozen. I'm not thinking they'll get better not being from frozen but hopefully they won't get any worse.

Corned beef hash is soggy.

Looks and smells like Kit-e-cat too so might not be the best example.

Got plenty of food here. 3/4s of a home made meat and tatey pie, a full home made apple and blackberry pie, some ham sandwiches (wholemeal bread/best ham), pickled onion monster munch, brioche, wine gums, and Haribo tangfastics :)

Far more than I'll eat in the 2 nightshifts I have left!
