I've always loved street fighter (alpha/zero3) and tekken 3. But games of this style seem to only be released on lame consoles. Am i just being dumb or can i not get these on the PC without using an emulator?

I'm looking for either an 'old school' (not before alpha3/tekken3) beat em up game that is made for the PC. Also if there are any newer games of a similar style could you please tell me about them too.

Thanks in advance :)

Only thing I can think of that isn't an emulation is something in the Mugen series. Its a street fighter style arcade fighting engine. There are loads of different versions with different charactor sets and you can build your own version (I think)

I play Mugen Tournament 3. Solely because Evil Ryu kicks so much ass :D

The Streetfighter series is available on the PC but getting it is pretty rare.

I had a PC version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It might still be around somewhere but it was an old DOS game so it might be tricky to get it to work properly.

so did i, spent hours and hours playing that

the requirement of it was 39 or 40mb hard drive space (my drive was 200mb), had to remove microsoft works (mum wasn't happy!) so i could play it

The only latest "fighting" game on the PC is jade empire. I know its not a like street fighter.

It's not unusual to have two or more people play on a console (after the pub, a night out, on a boring sunday afternoon) whilst I imagine having two players sat around a PC is quite rare. So there just isn't the market for making beat em up games on the PC.

Just my spin on the issue.

Also a beat em up pretty much requires a controller. A keyboard doesn't really cut it. Sure there's plenty of PC controllers available, but how many PC owners actually have one?
