Hi,

I have a 'colleague' which thinks Macs are crap. Or, if you use a mac, you are gay.

He has a massive ego, thinks he is smart but in reality he is quite stupid and never used a Mac.

Sorry. Rank over.

I just load up Parallels and open XP, Vista and Ubuntu then spin through them.

That shuts 'em up.

Especially with the new Parallels feature where you can run Windows programs in OS X 'natively' - ie, it sets up a transparent Windows desktop for the VM ++

Plenty of Mac users are like that to Windows users too though, in fairness. Never seen the point of all the squabbling, either way.

both windows and osx are lame ;)

beardy linux users for the win :)

only kidding both are fine and have their good and bad points

Probably as most people that say that to me have never touched one or never actually used one for more than 30 mins.

Exactly. Fanboy-ism is silly. I use Linux, MacOS, and Windows on a daily basis. Occasionally I have the pleasure of working with Solaris and other more specialized systems. Computers are tools, plain and simple. If OS X does the best job for what I'm trying to do I'll use it. If it doesn't I won't; I'll use something that performs better.

The same goes for the squabbling sometimes found in hardware discussions. Some fans love AMD, some Intel (no one loves Via ;)). Some love nVidia, some love ATi. It's silly not to just get the best available at the moment for the application at hand.

Hehe only one of my mates really dislikes Macs, and the only reason for that is because he could not turn one of them on (think it was an Imac lol) which worries me because the douch is doing IT at uni lol, its just the change that throws most people lol it threw me at first, never used a mac before and almost a year on im now teaching/helping the workgroup with their macs lol, OS X is soo much better than XP in loads of ways, if i had the money i would only use a PC for games and Internet browsing lol

Just use what you like and if anyone can't handle that then tell them to get a life. Zealots about any operating system, or any other software/hardware, need to get out more.

Just enjoy it while it lasts. I have a terrible fear that once Steve Jobs retires, the whole company will fall to pieces again for MS and Sony to wipe up.

I have heard a rumour that his health isn't the greatest and he is intending on announcing his retirement. I aslo have a fear that if that does happen then it may impact on Apple's business, like it did in the 90's. :(

I bought a macbook through student discount and I am VERY happy with what I got for a bargain. I dont know how to use the mac properly yet, but from just browsing with safari I dont want to stop :) Its a great gadget for the person with a digital lifestyle. Excactly what their ad says. M$ never been even close to that. Even if windows is supposed to be "quick and easy".

OT But how do you do that?? I only use parallels for VB and it would be ideal to do something like that!

I tried using crossover but it was a pile of something smelly!!

Cheers :D

Yes, do tell. There doesn't seem to be any mention of that feature on Parallels website. It's more of a CrossOver thing.
