Why PC gaming? Advantages over console?

i like consoles and pc, i prefer FPS on pc with kb/ mouse, i prefer driving games on xbox, i prefer fifa on xbox. I prefer simulators on pc. Swings and roundabouts :)

I haven't touched my main pc in months and months thinking about it. I'm debating selling it and just sticking with the Htpc, no decent rts games have come out in ages, i may wait to see see if new xbox supports mouse/keyboard

I do miss the games definitely and the gfx

I, and many others, could give 101 reasons why we prefer PC gaming, but a few points should suffice.

Better visuals
Better community somewhat (you don't get kids screaming or having a fit when they win/lose unlike consoles, well, most of the time)
No need to get up and change discs since all games are installed
Keyboard+mouse
Mods
Cheaper for the game and PC don't have to pay for access to play online, such as Xbox live.

Low-res, frame rates and aliasing on consoles can make my eyes ache so much.
Gears of War 3 was just too painful for me to play

Coming from a long time console gamer and newly adopted PC gamer, i can tell you PC gaming is superior is just about every way.

• Graphics/Frame rate - Far far superior. Better, lighting, draw distance on customizable options
• Mods - I’m newish to mods but playing through Fallout 3 modded through the teeth, was an awesome experience. Vegas next, then Skyrim modding, can’t wait.
• Controller choice - I hate K&M, too late for me to get the hang of it. Can use both my PS3 and Xbox controllers with my PC with ease, and choose a pad which suits what game best.
• Game selection - Just a massive amount of games to choose from
• Price - Game prices are usually 1/2" the price of their console counter parts (although the system cost will be more/sometimes significantly more depending on hardware.)
• Upgradeability - Always on the cutting edge, not stuck with 6 yr. old graphics
• 3D - Pretty much useless on consoles, just don’t have enough grunt
• Choice of screen/Multi screens - I use my 50" Panasonic Plasma for all games and use my 2560 x 1600, uber resolution monitor for RTS games. Plus got the choice of eyefinity and such.
• Versatility - I use my PC for much more than just games, as opposed to consoles
• Access/Steam/Origen - Can buy pretty much any game I want, cheaply, without having to set foot outside. Download speeds are awesome, compared to consoles, so a 10GB games will be downloaded in minutes
• Sales – Steam sales are worth in itself, never bought so many quality cheap games for practically peanuts.
• Load times, practically zero load times, texture loading etc, thanks to superfast SSD’s. Fed up of waiting at a door for the next room/building/map to load.

Only thing that is better on consoles, is cheaper hardware (well nowadays anyway) but at release a £400 PS3 was hardly a bargain and a midlevel PC of better spec would have been similarly priced

Some consoles exclusive are missed, God of War, Snake ETC

Cons of PC gaming, as above, quite geeky

Console
  • More variety.
  • Better exclusives for the past 3 decades and it's looking even better for the next load.
  • Surround sound.
  • Multiplatforms on consoles are the better versions, the PC ports are tripe.
  • PS3 and Wii online free.

PC
  • Keyboard and mouse = big FPS handicap, makes it much easier but yeh FPS on PC is sweet oh and RTS AND i might start driving games on PC too.
  • Mods = Thing is with mods i don't just class them all worthy in these debates, fact is most of them are ***** but i appreciate texture packs and thought out quests etc.
  • Computers have good graphics and steam.
  • Surround sound.
  • Multiplatform ports on the PC are tripe.
  • Too many cheaters.
  • No extra sub unless it's WoW but why play that when GW2 is out?

Consoles are just better for the overall quality experience of the most innovative games out there. PC's are for thrashing your FPS, RTS or MMORPG'S highly scaled and fully optimised. Thankfully i have both because if you pledge your allegiance to one or the other you're only going to miss out. There shouldn't really be a versus, if you game "proper", you get as many platforms as you can!

Just what??!??!?

Multiplatforms better on console?
Keyboard and mouse a handicap in FPS?
Cheaters on PC not console?

Pass the crack pipe dude.

Christ I can't stand popcorn gifs.

Something about it not being funny and not really making much contextual sense if the topic isn't about movies. And its corny as ****.

I like to kick back on the sofa on XBL and play games.

PC gaming is good, but I don't like being tied to a desk.

Advantages of pc:

Lots of beta tests to try for free,
Moddability of games,
The biggest back catalogue of games of any system,
Perfect controls for fps just need a keyboard and mouse.

Advantages of console:

Fun when mates come over.
