What happened to gg?

It seems to me all respect has gone from online gaming, has this come from consoles? or is this a pc gaming thing?

I enjoy a close game win or lose but when i see someone type that it makes me die a little inside, especially when the person typing is on the winning team but at the lower end of the leader board.

Bah! must be getting old!
 
Yeah maybe. Even a game as toxic as dota 2 is normally finished with gg wp.

I mean rekt seems to have replaced pwned. So if someone got a multikill then they rekt.

Yeah respect has gone for non pro players in gaming. But the internets also got more rude, more tabloid press about with who had a wardrobe malfunction, teen kids sending each other naked pics. Just times man.

Not much to do about it. Just mute and move on.

Always makes me laugh when someone types "easy" when they have an average score makes them look so silly.
 
Sadly I think it comes more from PC Gaming than Console gaming because not a lot of people type on Console, plus I think it came from the UK as it seems to come from that "u wot m8?" meme people love to post everywhere where they type badly with numbers and stuff to imitate the kids who used to text about 8 years ago. Typing "neway" instead of "anyway" and awful stuff like that.

People found it funny have used it ever since, it's light hearted and not meant to be taken seriously but obviously people don't get the memo and now it's just being used constantly as an insult by kids on games. Oh well, that's life.
 
I can still fondly remember my first forays into XBox Live and meeting 12 year old American kids. They seemed to enjoy questioning my sexuality and also suggested regularly that I was akin to a well known Pork product commonly found in the Midlands.

Well there are more people, mostly immature kids, playing online games since it's so much more accessible nowadays. Attitudes haven't changed from 10 years ago or 10 years before that in regards to taunting. People like that have always been around, just less so before. Before you called someone a n00b who got pwned/p00ned but that's old and out of fashion so it's rekt now.

Saying ggwp is just good manners after competitive games IMO. Even if it isn't close I'd much rather they just said ggwp instead of lol ez rekt.
 
I think people are mostly just messing around. I do like to type EZ in to chat on say BF4 when we won by 1-2 tickets. But it always get a LOL.
 
I tend to say easy at the end of a round on Battlefield 4, whether i win or lose, as the responses if people bite are amusing.
