Am i missing something or is there some sort of conspiracy between the manufacturers that states...if you go AMD you have to have crossfire and not SLI...?

Just about the only SLi AMD boards i know of, are some ASUS mobos, and finding them in stock anywhere seems to be a right royal pain in the arse...

Dammit, if i want to put SLi 460's with my Phenom II Quad core....i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to do it....

Thats all...:p

Basically, you can use SLi on an NVIDIA chipset for an MAD board or an Intel board which board partners have paid £££ to Nvidia for a licence. So you'll need an Nvidia chipset, or some sort of hacked driver.

Plus the AMD chipsets are a fair bit better than the nVidia ones.

You're best bet for an SLI AMD board is the ASUS M4N98TD EVO :)

Actually meant to be quite good.

SLI run by Nvidia and ATI still own and run my AMD so cannot mixed but one is new ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme Lucid chipset that may allow you to use Xfire or SLI -- remember the new board are much costly...

lies its because no one wants to pay nvidia XXX money to use sli when crossfire is free to them on amd chipsets

thinking about it you would think it would be in nvidias best intrest to give sli away but instead every motherboard with sli costs 10-20 more than the ones that dont they must charge a fortune
