Why sometimes does Steam not connect?

Most of the time when I turn my computer on, Steam connects fine and I can play games no problem.

But sometimes Steam just doesn't connect.

When this happens, the Internet icon in the bottom right is on, then goes off for around ten seconds, then comes back on again and it says that I can't connect to Steam. I have tried clicking on 'Retry Connection', but that still doesn't work.

Is there any way to solve this? My Internet Connection is working perfectly apart from this.

Happens occasionly to me. Ive always put it down to it starting up a gnats whisker before the internet connection connects.
