Why the hell are we always waiting for someone else to do something?

That really is shocking.
I've noticed a few times that when people have fallen over/passed out in Bristol. A lot of people just walk past. But as soon as 1 person goes to help every1 follows like sheep.

LOL how embarassing for him, unlucky if a tall van came along and unknowingly ran him over

Can't believe no one helped him if he was yelling and drawing attention to himself, it's beyond me how someone could look and then carry on. I'd go straight over and pull him out.

Yeah, I've not helped people before when I've been right next to someone who's tripped up but that's because I know if I tripped up, I would be embarassed and wouldn't want someone fussing. I ignored them to try and make them feel better kind of thing.

yeh I do that myself, but when they're obviously passed out or in trouble.

Damn right, the other day I saw a car crash, me and my mates jumped out to help but not a single other person came over to help or say anything, instead they all just stood there or stopped their car for about a minute before walking away or driving off. Made me laugh when one of the people in the accident shouted out, "yeah get a good look you ****, don't worry about helping"

I remember in Wolverhampton once an old lady fell down in the road whilst crossing a set of traffic lights. The lights went green as she fell, probably because she was rushing to get out of the way of the cars when the lights went green. Drivers just drove around her and carried on.

Why on earth they couldn't of just drove over her to teach her a lesson is beyond me.

I thought falling over and passing out in Bristol was a regular occurrence especially ten minutes after closing time and many others were so blind drunk they wouldn't notice them anyway :)

Or have things changed for the better in Bristol?

blind drug yes, but you don't see many passed out. How hard is it just to go c if they're ok. Not choking on there own sick. Normally all you got to do is shout at them, they moan something so you know there ok and on you go.

We did about stuff like this in Psychology, it's called Bystander Apathy apparently, where people presume others will help, and until someone else untervenes no-one will, then when someone does everyone else decides to help.

As much as I do believe this is shocking I understand why people decided not to help, although it's a weak excuse they are probably scared of being sued because I've heard of people get sued for helping people before. Although most of it is down to a lack of community spirit these days. Some of it is bystander behaviour though as Andelusion said.

edit: Just noticed Acidhell2 hit quote instead of edit *chortle*

How do you figure that one? I'm forever embarassing myself and playing the fool lol. I'm not scared of embarassment, was just pointing out that tripping is embarassing is all.

About 30 people walked past him, even though he was yelling for help and his head, a leg and an arm were stuck above the surface.
Call my naive, but I think the bloke was asking for help.

Read my first post about what I would have done in this situation. Obviously if someone is asking for help or clearly needs help I would. The second was talking about a non-injury embarassing little trip.
