It's a really quiet area, so could theoretically be going on up to about 5 miles away the way sound carries around here, but what the hell?!

Been going on continuously for about 30mins but appears to have stopped. Back to the sound of a babbling brook so trying again for some shut eye... Night!

Any railway lines nearby? They like to do work like that in the middle of the night. I remember one great bank holiday weekend where they closed the line for 3 days but only did any work at night, so we had diggers and all sorts of power tools going at 3am.
