hey guys running a 2160 cpu with 2 gig of generic 800mhz ram in a gigabyte 945gcmx-s2 mobo on a stock cooler with temps around 40c

problem i'm having is that i'm maxing out on 240mhz fsb(no option to adjust the multiplier that i can see in the bios) now i'm a bit of a noob on the c2d clocking so heres all the info maybe someone can tell me where i'm going wrong

mobo as above 945gcmx2-s2 gigabyte board
2160 c2d currently running at 2.16 ghz on a 240 mhz fsb
ram is generic pc5300 at 800mhz running 1:! @ 240mhz 3:3:3:12 @1.8v

i'm getting the feeling that i've reached the limit of my mobo(can get 2.2 ghz and it runs fine but any further and she just plain refuses to boot (have tried moving up a bit futher incase of a fsb hole but no joy

give me some wisdom oh wise ocuker c2d clockers :)

What did you add that "bump" to?

You really need to increase chipset and RAM voltages. Chip should be good for 2.8GHz on stock.

Try adjusting the timings on the memory to 4-4-4-12 2T and try again with the memory voltage at 1.8v.

do you have a option for a memory divider? your memory is running a tad high now its a good oc on generic ram if im reading that rite.

Assuming its the revision 6.6 board, you may have hit your limit my friend.

945 Boards are only really any good for chips with high multiplyers above 10x as you never had to raise the fsb as much. The 2160 has a 9x so will effectively need a higher fsb to run higher clock rates.

You really need a 965 board or above if you want 3Ghz+.

In my experience if you want a cheap cpu, you generally need a mid-range mobo to handle the overclocking. The Gigabyte you have falls into the budget range.

Thats my advice anyway :)
