Why the Xbox 360 will win the console war.

If your including old consoles then I'd say my N64 is least used

Current gen, there are the three major consoles, three pc's.

The Wii probably gets used least.

If I'm honest its the PS2's that get the real hammer, GT4, the Metal Gear games (still), Pro evo, things like that.

I'm primarily a PC gamer.

It seems it not the quailty that makes people want the Wii or the PS3 it's the brain washing power these companies use to make people buy their products with blind faith. It worked with me there was so much cool advertising for the Wii I had really high hopes for it but it didn't turn out has great has I expected and now I haven' used it for over a year. I just wish I had bought a 360 in the first place instead of waiting so long. Their may have been a higher risk with the older model 360s with the 3 red lights but at least I would have had a happier gaming experience.

I really liked the Gamecube so the Wii being so lame in the games department was so unexpected. Maybe lame is a little harsh maybe it's more to do with Nintendo trying to aim at a bigger audience which is great for sales but no for long turn gamers who want something really deep and exciting. I was one of them people that used to say Gameplay is everything and it is but I find with amazing graphics I can become more absorbed in a new fantasy worlds because it looks a lot more realistic and there for if gameplay is balanced out well with graphics it's a better experiance than just good game play alone.

Yeah I should have just bought a 360.

Samething happened with the Dreamcast it was the best last gen console up until Sega pulled the plug good thing is I did get the Dreamcast as soon has it came out and had a great experiance with it. Unlike the idiots that waited for the PS2. The PS2 did turn out on top in the end but when it was launch the line up was utter rubbish.

Many more people. Devs don't always jump to the latest tech because of the production costs and the risk it brings. If God of War 2 had been made for the PS3 it would never have made as much money as it did for the PS2.

The first year of the PS3 shows that people aren't going to pay ridiculous money no matter how good it is. The fact that the PS2 sales were matched and sometimes better than the PS3 shows this. Also the fact that the Wii is old technology and is outselling both shows this clearly.

Two points there's no real price difference between a Wii and 360 and millions of people have bought PS3's and 360's

Of course there's a difference in price now, it's been over two years since the 360 launched. We were talking about a new MS console being released when the PS3 was at its peak. It wouldn't be a smart idea, because average joe isn't going to pay insane money no matter how good the technology is, the perfect example being PS3. People would see no incentive to buy a new MS console when the PS3 is only half way through it's lifespan with more games and half the price.

The reason it's selling well is through very clever marketing which includes limiting supply which makes it more desirable and that damn control system. I think the bubble will burst when either MS or Sony release a similar control system giving people the advantage of playing Wii type games on a proper next gen console or people just see it for what it is (a fad) and move on!

It's not just clever marketing and the control system. It's the fact that it has so many games that appeal to children as well. Look at how poorly Viva Pinata sold on 360 and how much they marketed the thing.

Once LBP comes out on PS3 I expect the sales figures of the console to start increasing a lot.

Anyway, I think when this generation is set and done the sales figures will be fairly even between Wii and PS3, I don't think the 360 will appeal to the mainstream market as well as the other two. To be honest though I couldn't really care, I'll buy the console whether I want it or not, not on how much the install base is.

What makes me laugh is how people go

Of course it is, maybe some people on the net are to stupid to realise why. I work for a car manufactuer and we build the new Honda civics. Now I could put a spin on this and say

"The new honda civic is outselling the old one 2:1". Well of course it is! It's bloody new and everyone that has the 360 has one, people arent going to go and keep buying 360s when they have one are they?

I cant believe im actually replying to this thread anyway, the CG&H section has become a joke along with most of the other forums with basically a bunch of goons debating which is better.

Yes, I really enjoyed it and it was critically well received. I hope RARE do as good a job with Banjo 3.

That analogy doesn't make any sense. The gaming industry works completely different.
