Weird question, probably dumb to but here goes. Why is it when i watch streams of games, mostly console streams but some PC to, the graphics for example look decent, smooth. However when i come to play the same game, its a lot more underwhelming? like not as good especially console games, i play them on this same monitor to. I would have thought it would portray the same picture?

It always makes me think are they using certain settings on there monitors? I thought the same with BF3 aswell when it first came out for PC, maybe its a case of getting used to it, or its all in my mind or something lol!

Thought id ask incase others see the same??? :D

hmm maybe so, but when ive played console games also it looks a lot different, but ye i think i know what u mean, because im viewing it from my PC its showing it better gah i dunno llol

I think I know what you mean, the games looks a lot sharper, smoother and overall nicer but when you play the game its no where near as good picture wise. To replicate it you probably need an LED monitor with like 8 x AA or something

Can't say I've ever noticed it but then I play games at higher resolution than my connection can stream. The vast majority of streams look worse than things do when I play.

For a fair comparison I would recommend watching a demo or spectating as it could be that the game looks better in a video because you are free to just relax and watch, rather than focusing on the actual gameplay when playing (in a FPS for example you will likely be tense all the time and focusing on specific things rather than taking in the big picture).

Might have something to do with the fact that when you are watching a stream the picture is displayed in a smaller area hence everything looks better. For example if you view a 1080p video at 720p resolution I'd look better than what it does at 1080p.

Its to do with playing a game and watching a game!
I thought this ages ago and it comes down to that fact you concentrate more when playing so you don't admire the view
