hi folks

Here's a question

Why TV's don't provide DVI input for people who use PC for gaming?

And how would I connect to my new LCD TV with the best connection (its got a D-sub, HDMI and SCART)

Anyone

Cheers

DVI (I & D) will have to likely comply with HDCP. Which isnt common on graphics cards. So an easier solution is VGA as its analog.

DVI to HDMI would probably be the best bet/sharpest. VGA is fine though.

There is an EU tax on DVI as well which is why PC monitors with DVI cost more than PC monitors without DVI.

With what you have I'd use DVI-HDMI. You can get convertors so that you can use a standard HDMI cable into the convertor into the PC.

Why bother adding a redundant port? You can simply use a DVI to HDMI cable if that's what you require. Adding VGA gives those who don't need, or can't use DVI, the option to connect equipment to the screen.

Really? What a joke

IIRC it was because a number of players etc were starting to use it as the interface between the player and the monitor - which moved the monitor from the PC component tax bracket for duty etc, to the Entertainment one.
I don't know if the change was actually implemented, but it was certainly mooted from memory.

Obviously as TV's with HDMI are already in that duty bracket it's a non starter.

That's the more likely one, as most manufacturers will do their utmost to save money, why spend out on a connection that only has one use, when you've already got two+ connections that will do the same job (VGA, and HDMI), with one being multi purpose and just needing a simple adaptor.
