Why was my TJ11 thread deleted?

I started a thread not 30 mins ago linking to a Bit-Tech review of the Silverstone TJ11 and its...disappeared.

Why? I can't see how any rules have been broken.

Ahh missed that. Anyways seems like the TJ11 is a bit underwhelming. Competent at both air and water cooling but not as good as the TJ07 for water cooling or modding potential, and the fact that it doesn't do dual loop by default seems a major oversight given the huge outlay demanded.

I and many others link to bit-tech reviews all the time in general hardware, never had a problem.

As have I...

People link to Bit-Tech reviews all the time in the Graphics Card section

bit-tech are affiliated / linked to a major UK competitor of OCUK I believe

You sure about that? I know they're owned by Dennis Publishing as are Trusted Reviews but I'm unaware of competitor affiliations.

Would be more helpful of a MOD (and less lazy too I might add), to state their reasons rather than just deleting my thread without the courtesy of an explanation.

I suspect that my criticisms of the over priced and underwhelming TJ11 were not well received.

You may not have noticed but they have a "Preferred Partner Price", which always links to the company they're affiliated with.

Deleting threads with Bit-Tech reviews is news to me but not all that surprising I suppose.

I removed the thread as the actual article linked to buying the product from a competitor.

I dont have an issue with you linking to bit-tech as long as that actual article doesn't mention competitors.

The beginning of nearly every bit-tech article has a price and a link at the top, so is this resource of information which is used to help people make their minds up as to whats hot and whats not now going to be banned?

For example,

Mr X posts in general hardware asking for a spec, he really hasn't got a clue as to whats a good buy for a £130 GPU, I link him to Bit-tech review comparing a GTX460 vs 6850 to help him see the price performance difference, the review will have a price and a URL to this price from a competitor. is this now going to be removed?

In the end they end up buying from OcUK anyway.

I only ask because its been going on for along time.

If ocuk made their price a smidge cheaper would it link to you instead?

Review is a bit thin for what is the tj07 succesor, where are the shots of the case built with a full loop in?

I'm amazed that this case hasn't been comprehensivley evaluated by more tech sites. I can't believe that they haven't tried to get hold of review samples...Seems very odd...

It shouldn't be allowed, but seems it has been missed then.

LOL @ this ;)

Really? You're going to withhold a review site because it links to competitors?

Isn't the idea of this forum to seek help and get answers for issues, which will involve reviews and benchmarks to help those aforementioned? :o

As mentioned, been going on for ages, and never an issue. I somewhat doubt every linked article has been missed, so are the rules changing or?

yeah we are - you seem to have a massive problem every time i see you posting recently.

if you have an issue with the forums or a moderators decision on a matter, i suggest you email a member of the moderating team.

No I don't I assure you.

Although that last ban was utter nonsense and a quick google will prove it...

I don't have an issue with the forums, I'm just wondering, like Stulid was earlier, as to why linking to Bit-Tech has recently been picked up upon - it's been fine since way before I joined.

Just seeking some clarification is all.

OcUK is a business trying to make a crust? The forums are provided for the community to use but not to promote competitors... It's quite clear in the FAQ.

If linking to places where there are competitor links has been missed before but picked up on now well... To err is human, to forgive is Devine?

I could fully understand that had it only been recently.

But Bit-Tech has been linked to countless times over many many months - if not years!

Ah well, nevermind.

Personally I don't link there anyway, just seems odd that the rule should be enforced now rather than previously.

Perhaps because it has only recently become apparent that most review sites link to competitors?

It really isn't that hard a concept to grasp.

If you owned a business, would you allow people to enter your shop and tell customers to shop elsewhere? While the vast majority of people have no intention of guiding folk to shop elsewhere, by posting review sites that link to competitors they are unwittingly doing exactly that! One of the moderators many jobs is to protect the business interests of ocuk so don't feel offended that your post might be deleted because of this.

You're missing my point. I've already stated I fully understand that part.

My point is me wondering why it is only recently being enforced when Bit-Tech has been linked to for years now.

Similarly, will all Bit-Tech articles be banned? As a good few don't actually have links to competitors, they simply state the price it can be had for.
