Why Win7?

OK, I just installed Win7 to have it added to my already dual boot of Linux and XP, but I fail to see what's so good with Win7? Win7 takes ages to update and it's been a hassle to move files around, plus it's slower than XP...

So how many of you really like Win7 and why???

:(

Because XP is ancient, win7 might be slow for you but only 10 secs boot time for me.
As far as im aware XP offers no trim support or dx11, so pointless with newer hardware but i suppose its ok for old pc`s.

admittedly it is a pain in the posterior. even when you have fast internet, it does take awhile and a few reboots.

it's been a hassle to move files around

hardly the fault of the new OS, is it?

plus it's slower than XP...

either you're running XP era hardware or you're doing it wrong(tm). it's so much better than XP. basically any computer built or bought in the last 6 years since vista came out is going to be nicer to use with windows 7 than XP.

Windows 8 is even faster, give that a go. Quad boot that badboy!

But as above. XP sickens me now. It feels sooooo out of date. I couldn't live without snap or window previews, or just the ease with which it finds drivers for new hardware. Never look back!

It sound like OP is trying to run Windows 7 on old hardware. :D

Hardly.

I spoke a bit too soon about the downside of Win7, but I still think XP is better.

I made the mistake of installing the 32bit, so will delete this and install the 64bit later in the week.

NOT SURE IF SRS

Win XP 32 bit at work on ancient Core2Duo hardware

And yet Core2Duo are positively cutting edge considering what the average PC spec was when Windows XP launched.... Pentium 4 2.0Ghz was cutting edge and Athlon XP's had just been launched... most people were still running PIIIs and Athlon T-Birds. :)

Yeah, they were replaced in 2009/2010. The 3 year cycle for never seeing anything in production older than an i3/5/7 etc is nearly here.
