having a problem opening any excel files. every time i click to open an excel file it comes up with windows installer and then a bar comes up saying ready to instal, when it has finished it says failed. can anyone explain to me what the problem is and how i might fix it. many thanks

You're going to need to put the Office disk in the drive.
I find it's best to do a custom install of Office installing all files to the harddrive. Make sure you have admin rights when you install it too.
This could be happening for a number of reasons but one of the most common is that Office has been installed with a different account without admin rights.
