why wont both SSD work?

I boot off a SSD and game off a 500 GB raptor, now if I remove the raptor and replace it with a SSD the system hangs on the load screen (Mobo splash screen)

Win 8.1 (tested with old win 7 as well same issue)
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3gen3 mobo

I'm guessing its a bios issue as both drives work tested in other machines, in fact I have used both these as my boot drive as thought swapping may help.

Guessing as well its me missing something dumb here but ..thought I would ask anyway

Err.

Is it because of setting SATA to AHCI/IDE?

Try changing this setting around in the BIOS and see if the SSD then works.

Or is the boot option correct? so it boots of the SSD with the OS and not the other.

Seem to have it sorted now, soon as I turned on S.M.A.R.T detected both drives and booted.

OK now I can see both drivers (well all 3 as still have raptor connected), problem I'm having is the PC is not running smoothly anymore, some programs take just a little longer to get started, often PC will not boot, or shut down, I remove the drive and all these issue go away.

It does not matter which way around I have these 2 SSD as long as only 1 fitted PC runs fine, loop the other in and all these little problems arrive.

the hdd probably has part of the boot sector stored on it in a 100mb partition,hence why when you remove it windows wont boot,to fix it try booting from windows disc and do startup repair (without the hdd attached)

PC runs fine when the other is not connected, and yes the other is my old boot drive.

so how do I remove that part?

you need windows disc to do a startup repair

well I have got rid of the protected section by using cmd>diskpart>clean will try a reboot and run and see how it is now.

mm still not right

, thinking tomorrow I may do a full new install on the other SSD move that to the boot drive and see.

Anybody else got any insights? Not installed system yet on other drive not sure I will as had it there before.
