Brand new rechargable battery (microsoft)
3 month old wireless controler (microsoft)

launch day re-charge cable (microsoft)

When controler is connected to console
the red light appears on the controler
as if its going to charge but turns green 2 seconds later.

I'm guessing my re-charge cable has packed in ?

Doesn't sound like it tbh, sounds more like the battery pack has gone. Do you have another battery/another cable to try?

got a new battery the other day = £10
yesterday ordered a new play charge kit=£12
and ive just found out its the 3 month old pad
conclusion: ive bough a new pad for £30

total cost: £52

didnt fancy yet another row in a high street store
asking for a replacement/refund for a pad (came with new console).

PS- everything i buy breaks and i look after my stuff.
i think in future im gonna trash my stuff and watch it last for ever

I have exactly the same problem using my existing batteries in my spanking new black controller that came with my Elite. The batteries work in the controller, but won't charge. Red light, then green a few seconds later. Charge and work absolutely fine in my two launch day controllers.

Afraid I can't offer a solution.

Phone freephone number 08005871102 - xbox 360 tech support (option 3) and tell them that your controller is faulty. They will send you a new wireless controller.Should arrive in 10 working days.
Got this info from another forum and it seems to work fine.

Yes i did that with a headset and got a new one within ten days.
They did not even want the old one back.

I think I could do with ringing that number... as I have a wired controll pad and some of the buttons seem to want to work when ever it wants.

I switched on my 360 for the first time in months last night only to have no lights on the controller at all; no function whatsoever.

Have tried all 3 usb ports but nothing. It has the plug and charge kit but have tried with just cable etc but only get a green ligt for a millisecond as I plug in cable.

Any ideas?

same problem here - my problem turned out to be the recharge cable - the connector to the pad was terrible - microsoft would have done well to incorporate a none proprietry connector into their charging system like the PS3 usb-usbmini charge cable, rather than their unreliable, hefty [and in my opinion not that well made] xbox only cable.
