I have a computer with a wireless card in, and i run my internet through the network port on my motherboard. The internet connection is provided by the uni, but for some reason when i turn on my wireless hub/router and connect my wireless card to it, i can't open any webpages or use the normal internet connection. Does anyone know why this is happening, this also happens on 2 of my friends laptops with built in wi-fi, they cant use the normal internet when connected to the router.

thanks.

The problem is that when you turn on the wireless card, the wireless router is telling your PC that to get to the internet, it must use it, rather than your ethernet cable.

The way I would fix that is to set a static IP address on the wireless interface on the PC with no default gateway - that way the PC will always use the ethernet cable to get to the internet.

yes it is setting its own ip, is the problem that its specifying its own gateway? if i just set the ip to 192.168.1.2 will it solve it?
