Why won't my PC turn on

I'm having lots of trouble with a new second hand pc. I can't seem to reach the BIOS and sometimes it displays nothing at all.

I got into the bios originally when I first tried the PC. It also reached Windows fine.

I then dismantled the whole PC, gave it a good clean and fitting my aftermarket cooler. I cleared the bios before I dismantled the PC. Now, when I try to boot it up, it displays my Nvidia 9600GT's post screen, but doesn't get any further than that, it just displays a black screen (as in, my monitor is receiving signal, it is just black).

I have tried taking out the motherboard battery. It still does it. I have tried using the CMOS jumper thing, and it still does it. I've tried a new battery, which allowed to get me into the BIOS once but has now reverted to the same problem.

I've tried various combinations of RAM
I've tried another GPU and the on board GPU.
What else can I try?

It's a gigabyte ga-h61m-s2pv with a Pentium G870, 4GB of RAM and a 9600GT.

Edit- it says the motherboard supports dual bios, will that be of any help?

I can't get into the bios any more at all it seems :/ I left the cmos battery "charging" over night incase that was the problem and now it just posts the GPU but doesn't go on to post the motherboard :( I tried it with no RAM at all, and the fans spin up for 10 seconds and then stop, and it repeats that.

I tried it with the integrated graphics and the monitor doesn't light up to show it is receiving signal- could this be a fried CPU rather than motherboard then?

If anyone stumbles across this thread I got it sorted by forcing the bios to use the backup bios. Starting from the PC being off, I held down the power button for about 10 seconds; the PC turned on and then back off. I then released the power button and pressed it again quickly as if I was turning on the PC normally. It booted into BIOS recovery mode or something.
