Why won't spotify play podcasts in order

I'm trying to do some gaming and listen to podcasts at the same time but the app doesn't seem to want to just play "oldest to newest" even when I sort the episodes in that order. It will either go to the newest one or go backwards newest to oldest, or play the newest one I haven't finished. This is the windows app.

Am I doing something dumb here or is there a setting I need to change
