Why won't this work ram

Hi,

I have 2x 4gb ballistic ddr3 1600 installed as a dual. I have 1 Kingston 4gb kvr16n11s8/4 that would like to add on a white slot but would this work? and would it be worth it performance wise?

Actually I have installed it and it does work but am I loosing performance overall from the dual ram?

you have gone from dual channel, to single channel as you have 3

you must have 2 or 4 stick for dual channel and other config 1 or 3... will result in single channel ram.
also by mixing ram sticks your system may have dropped the speed to SPD speeds 1333mhz and not the rated 1600mhz

stick to 2x4gb@1600mhz

If you can't tell whether you've lost performance just by using it then any performance loss isn't worth worrying about.

If you don't have enough RAM and are hitting the limit, then games/apps will run really, really bad, you'll notice the difference with another 4GB stick.
