posted previously here about USB problems. Finally got round to trying everything suggested and to no avail. I Bought a new PCI USB 2 expansion card, installed it and installed the drivers from the CD. Nothing. Is there anything which could have been changed that would stop all USB ports working?

As long as he has the USB "drivers"for the motherboard AND if using a USB card(extra ports)the card drivers then the mouse should work.
Windows XP Home or pro =need to install the right drivers for the motherboard+the ones that should have come with the USB card.
Windows XP Home or Pro with SP1=built in USB2 drivers
Windows XP Home or Pro with SP2=built in USB2 drivers

Yep, the only problems I've ever had with USB have been when installing Windows from fresh. As soon as SP1 is in USB fires up dandy with no external drivers required.
