Why would someone have an Alienware M17 R3 for 2 weeks then sell it

You can apply that logic to any desirable good lol. People change their minds, or their needs change or their money situation changes.

Could have got it on HP & then be cashing it in or somebody else bought it for them & they want the cash.

Hi Mark....it's the guy that got your laptop last night (that's my middle name)....I cant hide now :)

Lol mark, he was obviously talking about you ^-^.

People buy massive gaming laptops then soon realize that they are neither laptops or gaming machines and I say this as a M11x owner.

My machine is faster than a desktop with a 660ti so I have no idea what you are on about.

Know quite a few people who do this, after buying they suddenly realise they can't actually afford it :S

I consider my gaming laptop a pretty capable gaming machine i7 3610QM w/ 16GB RAM and a GTX675m runs pretty much everything fine and probably can put a 680m in there to top up GPU if newer games push it more.

As to why I sold it, I moved in with my girlfriend and decided I had the space for a desktop which I didn't think I would have, my hazro only has dual link dvi and the convertor cables to display port are hit and miss.

That said if I can find another bargain I'll no doubt end up buying another for a steam box under the tv

I also have no idea what you are on about. My M17x R4 is fantastic

The r4 to be fair was the second laptop that I have owned that i felt really was not a compromise for games at all, I quite happily played stuff for hours on it and didnt find a single game that I wasnt able to max out quite happily.

Ive had tons of gaming laptops going back to the Dell XPS M1710 which was the only other one that left me feeling that, in terms of quality and performance, everything in between while probably okay for most people, to someone niggly like me was not good enough.

Also when you think with this new steam, dell are asking £1000 for a lesser specced mini itx machine when not much more will get you a full laptop on the outlet that would be more discreet, quieter and let you do whatever you want with it.

I will keep it for a few years and if needs be upgrade as i go along but as you say for the moment and near future its perfectly fine.

In terms of people saying how large it is it really is irelavent as it fits into my laptop bag perfectly and therefor becomes easily portable :p. A desktop is the complete opposite, yes its larger than a lot of laptops but this does not cause me any issues :)
