Why would you use any monitor connection that wasn't DisplayPort?

I'm using DP because

a) my ancient 560ti won't do 1440p over HDMI. It maxes out at 1080p
b) my monitor connections are on the side and you can see the DVI cable poking out in to view whereas DP doesn't.
c) I prefer the DP clip mechanism over DVI thumbscrews.
d) the DP cable was bundled with my monitor and I've had zero issues with it.

I use a DVI cable because my monitor is so old it's the only connection

I keep looking but so far I see nothing worth upgrading my screen for.
