Why you don't buy bad PSU's

Wow, the packaging is getting good for these things.

If I saw that in a store I think I'd have a hard time identifying it as a cheap psu.

Of course, with the internet I would not make that mistake.

Cheapo's arent all that bad as long as you know the limitations.

Ive been running a cheap 500w generic PSU from a local retailer a year ago, been running in my lesser rig since.
I dont think I stress it over 300w at maximum.

I definately think though, OCUK should do a comparison of their branded PSU's compared to the cheapest alternative. Surely it must be bad business to stick your name onto something you know is bad?

That cheap PSU though will have no doubt a large ripple. So while you can say its working fine how do you know its not screwing over every component especially the HDD in the long run?

Nah, PII x4 955.
Went to a local recycling place and saw a MSi 890 board, bought the system for £10 because it wouldnt turn on (no PSU) and had a lucky buy. Sadly the board died about 2 months ago, but hey-ho, I think its cost like £40 to date.
