Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Is this not just a storm in a tea cup?

Have they actually changed behind the scenes their processes such that a change in the privacy policy seems suspicious?

It could just be some law somewhere has necessitated the need to update the privacy policy and the use of our data has not actually changed.
They've removed any sections that said they won't share user data from their privacy statement and terms of service.

Firefox is currently one of the only browsers I trust, when that is no longer the case I don't know what to use? Thunderbird will also be affected so need to find something to replace that:-(

Need that ladybird browser to become ready so that we actually have something independent and open source.
The first Alpha release of the new ladybird browser is expected in 2026, sigh! :D

An alpha release is planned in 2026, beta release is expected in 2027 and a stable release for general public in 2028.

People need to relax, just toggle off the data collection button to opt out, job done, business back as normal.

Hopefully it will stay in settings and no need to piddle around with about:config Whac-A-Mole

I know it isn't great but I'm going back to Safari.
Considering the same after this mess. I’ve used Firefox primarily since its earliest incarnations and never really strayed away.

I am not the biggest Safari fan (I do use it for my iOS devices) but on desktop it’s always been Firefox.

Having said that, LibreWolf is a browser I need to read up on as it seems to be FF without the crap.

Edit: Got LibreWolf running on both Linux Mint and MacOS and its just fine. No telemetry etc, just speed.

I'm going to assume actually many people here, like me, have worked professionally on IT projects and products that have taken longer than this to implement, with less complexity and more resources available...

Don't disagree with you on it being a long time, I wish it were sooner too, but I'm glad it is being taken on. I wish I had the skills to contribute!

It is a bit...
UPDATE: We’ve seen a little confusion about the language regarding licenses, so we want to clear that up. We need a license to allow us to make some of the basic functionality of Firefox possible. Without it, we couldn’t use information typed into Firefox, for example. It does NOT give us ownership of your data or a right to use it for anything other than what is described in the Privacy Notice.
