Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Anyone having issues browsing the forum using the latest android version?

For note - this seems to be happening to me. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1530869
For note - this has now been fixed from what I can tell. Also updated Fennic which I had to use as a stop gap and that seems ok too on the latest FF version. Think I might stick to Fennic purely so I don't have to deal with swapping back

I have not experienced what you have noted, with those screenshots. But I have experienced some irregularities when using FF on Android.
When posting within Facebook groups sometimes the keyboard, SwiftKey, covers the space allocated to type. So you can type but not see what is written.
Lowering the keyboard at that point can back out of placing the intended post and might return to the main page of the group. All a little vague as it isn't consistent.
There are some other minor irregularities related to forum use that just makes it a little frustrating at times.
I'm not sure if SwiftKey could be involded, or if I change it to using a desktop site, rather than mobile, that could help...... for testing.

I've encountered this before too, however I can't remember if it was when I was trying out Swiftkey or not, might have been gboard. IIRC I normally dismiss the keyboard and then call it again and it works. Thankfully it's a very rare issue for me. My phone is still on A10, so pretty old.
I've not noticed any other issues thankfully.

FWIW it is even worse when using Edge, especially if you need to edit your posts.
I have found with FF if the keyboard covers the space where you without type then just pressing a letter on the keyboard will reveal it. The keyboard remains also.

I just changed over from Edge to the Librewolf fork. Seems to be going all right so far although the privacy options are somehow blocking Visual Studio Code codespace from opening up.

Was wondering why typing was stuttering in Firefox for certain sites (eg Reddit, YouTube) and even affecting Foundry VTT, turns out it was the Bitwarden extension causing it. Disabling that extension stops the stuttering/lag. Originally thought it was the v144 update but it's not, in case anyone else noticed the same problem.

Oh is that what's doing it. Hopefully they fix it.

What’s clear is that Mozilla see AI as the future of Firefox.

FFS!

I hope it stays optional and is well sandboxed to stop it being jail broken.

The few search engines I use have this feature as part of the site or theres other sites for this function so I dont see the need to have it within the browser itself. Also I remember hearing about how there was a lack of funding for Firefox as it was causing dev issues now they seem to have the ££££ for the implementation and processing of these AI features.

I don't have a problem with the AI integration as long as not forced to use it and it isn't scraping my session data - I've found it useful a couple of times since it was enabled on FF.

My Firefox install is having a lot of problems with YouTube. It could be a uBlock vs YouTube fight in the background? Its now causing Firefox to lock up for a bit, sometimes I just have to use task manager to end task.

Purge all the caches in uBlock Origin, then update the lists. If you still have issues, it could be one of the lists causing the issue - in which case, it's a case of trial and error and disabling lists until the issue goes away.

Mine has been doing similar. Then again it does not seem to like using the Windscribe app running as an extension, for my VPN. However the issues with YT and possibly uBlock were there prior to the VPN app.
Sadly Windscribe is not able to offer the latest VPN browser extension for Firefox.

When asking Windscribe about the VPN app, they told me....

" Because Mozilla’s extension API is about as flexible as a brick wall. Firefox limits what extensions can do under the hood, so some of the fun stuff available in the Edge or Chrome versions (like advanced privacy tools and fingerprinting randomization) just isn’t possible there.

Edge (and Chrome) use the more modern Manifest V3 standard that gives us a few extra toys to play with. Firefox has its own take on extensions and doesn’t fully support MV3 yet."

The issue with FF YT and possibly uBlock does not seem to be there when using Edge.

Google have been constantly screwing YouTube performance on Firefox for years now it feels like.

It feels like they make sure it works on Chromium based browsers and not much else.

I'm regularly on YouTube and haven't noticed any issues with Firefox. V145.0 on Arch Linux. With Ublock.

Edit: Forgot this is in Windows section.

Debian here, and it ebbs and flows really. I find it's worse if you have uBlock without YT Premium, you get the 'interrupt' notifications on Youtube as it tries to fight it. It's quite strange, it really does feel like some times it works fine other times it's against you. Fortunately I still have student premium through an old job so it's a decent price for Premium.

Interestingly I've not seen the issue so far when logged in with Premium Lite, but without it there still seems to be some ad related weirdness on YT even on Chrome or Edge it causes momentarily blips but on Firefox often stalls the entire data stream. Regardless of whether you are using some form of ad block or not.
