Ive had this really irritating problem with my PC for quite a while and now i cant be bothered to put up with it anymore.

Basically you turn on the computer, everything works fine, like it should do, and like it did before this started, then it freezes for about 2 seconds, the screen goes blank, then in about 5 seconds it comes back on, and my computer starts acting very very slow, ive tried several formats too, it doesnt work, can any1 help?

System specs AMD Sempron 2.8 Ghz
1.00GB Ram
160gb HDD
380W PSU

At what point of the boot process does this pause/blank happen? Do you get as far as Windows desktop before it happens, or is it during POST?

It sounds VGA card, or driver related to me. Try booting in VGA mode (continuously tap F8 as your PC is POSTing and select VGA MODE from the Advanced Boot Options menu that should appear.

If your PC runs OK in VGA mode then you will probably need to source an alternative driver (older or newer) for your Radeon 9250, depending on which one you currently have installed. If this doesn't make a difference, see if you can lend a different VGA card off of a friend.

atm, i have to get my hands on a spare disk, ill do the mem test asap, however i download some other memtest from a website and left it running for around 30 mins and it came up with 0 errors

The blank/ slowdown happens not during boot, everything works fine after boot, its when u actually start using the computer, it happens after about 10-20 mins, if you were to leave the computer idle, this problem would not occur,

also this blank screen/slowdown does not happen when i am playing a full screen game.

edit: also when the black screen/slow down occurs i cannot play games or anything, and also i get errors about my GFX card and sometimes it asksme to set to 16 bit graphics which causes me to think its an old video card driver or something like that.

also can i add, this started happening after i had a new monitor, so is this VGA related?
