Why does windows task manager show my wireless connection speed at only 11Mbps when I have a 54Mbps router and USB stick.

There might be an 'on demand' setting in your wireless manager, a bit like Intel's Speedstep. Have you checked the speed during a download?

There does not appear to be any on demand setting. I have just noticed that its a lot slower loading webpages than when I was just using a Cat5e cable.

Have you checked the wireless settings in the router as normally you can tell the router to limit the speed to Auto (B and G) Only 54Mbps(g) or 11Mbps (b) so it is possible that the router is set to only use 11Mbps even though it can work faster.

If your still having a problem then let us know the make and model of the router and the USB stick and I am sure we will try and help.

I have a D Link DI524 router and a D Link DWL G122 usb Adaptor. I am unsure if there is any way of limiting the router but I will check now.

It was limited so I have set it to use G all of the time now and the speed in task manager has changed to 54Mbps.
