Good Evening,

I’m hoping someone can please help me, please excuse my lack of technical terminology I am by no means a PC genius.

We have had new fibre broadband fitted today. My son has a gaming PC with a built in Wi-Fi adaptor, we have had no issues with this connecting or finding our previous Wi-Fi provider but since installation we are unable to connect.

All other devices within the home find and connect perfectly fine but the PC is unable to find this network, yet it finds other networks.

Please could some give some technical advice, what can we do to overcome this. I can’t have a permanent Ethernet cable as the router is in the downstairs.

Please help!

Thank you for the replies.

I have done a little bit more research and the adaptor is 'ASUS PCE-N15 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card'. From research it is 802.11g and 802.11n enabled. (Although seems to be one of the cheaper/older versions)

I did a little research and checked compatibility through the cmd command and it states: Radio types supported : 802.11n 802.11b 802.11g

I have logged into the router it is using 2.4 Ghz, I have set the channels through from 1 to max with no joy. I changed the band to 5Ghz and also set all the channels still no joy.

Reviewing the 'advanced' properties of the adaptor in device manager, I can't see that it has the option to enable 802.11n.

I do feel like I have reached my technical abilities, any more advice is welcome.

Would it be worth upgrading the Wi-Fi adaptor at this point? If so what would you recommend?
