Hi all,

Just got my new iPod Touch today and its fantastic. I'm having odd problems with the wi-fi though.

When I disable all security on the router, the iPod connects fine, however with a WEP password, it doesn't want to connect. It rejects the first key, but allows you to connect with not internet on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th keys. I did manage to get it working temporarily by changing the WEP password, but now it has stopped again. I have also tried putting the settings in manually but it'll have none of it. If I let it try and get the internet using the 2nd WEP key, it comes up with an odd IP address.

WPA is rly out of the option because its a pain in the arse to get working on ubuntu, and one of the computers in the house has a wireless adapter that doesn't support it.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
James

I'm afraid I've got the same problem with my iPhone at home - it just says 'unable to connect' when using the WEP key. Bit of a pain really.

My iPhone didn't like my home wireless 2.4Ghz, it could see it but never actually join, and after trying lots of things it turned out that the wireless channel on the router was too wide for the iPhone, so changing that fixed it :)

I use WEP at home and it connects fine... strange.
I also use WPA2 on my wireless router in my uni room and my Linux Mint (based off Ubuntu) connects to it fine, no hassles....

I have a feeling it is something to do with the router I'm using, as changing around with the channel seems to have some effect, albeit temporary. I might see if I can borrow someone's router and try it with that.
