Been out of the hardware game for a while but deciced my antec 1000w psu is probs too much for just browsing the net, but i do still (only sometimes) do some flat out gaming etc, my question is- is there a good 1000w ish psu that doesent gobble up loads of electric when im just checking my emails/ but then boosts itself up when power is needed ? a powerful yet 'green' if you like psu ?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

All PSU's work that way already.

The components will only draw the amount of power they require.

Your PSU isn't constantly supplying 1000W.

PSU units only draw what power is needed at that certain time, my 750w on my system pulls 200w ~ idle and 500W full load.

If it's electricity your concerned about. You want to pick a PSU with the highest efficiency rating you can afford.

Look for the Bronze, Silver and Gold rated PSU's. That's what that is all about. They also do platinum... however, very over priced.

What model is the Antec... It's probably already fine.

Hi, its a TruePower Quattro, and thank you all, theres me thinking it was like 1000w all the time, good job my knowledge of other components is better than what i know of psu's lol, thanks again
