Gets £750 Fine

Nurse Pinky Mabuza of Bushbuckridge, South Africa, was convicted of injecting her husband's 8-year-old son with blood contaminated with HIV to try and kill him.

Mabuza was given a fine of £750 and was told she can either pay the amount in instalments or spend 5 years in jail.

"My son's life has been changed for ever all the court can do is give such a lenient sentence," said the boy's mother.

Presiding Judge Victor Mathebula said that if the boy should die Mabuza will be tried for murder.

Shocking tbh. Should have been technically tried on Murder or manslaughter at the least.

The victim is still alive and will hopefully remain that way for many years to come, so there's no way she could be tried for murder. However a £750 fine is pathetic.

Well she has shortened his life.

But we don't know that. He may well live a full life time, he may get run over by a car tomorrow. You cannot punish someone on the basis of what hardships their crime might inflict upon their victim. However that does not mean introducing a potentially fatal virus into someone isn't a serious crime.

I'm guessing here but in England she could be charged under s18 (wounding with intent) Offences Against the Persons Act 1861 which carries a max sentance of life

But what she done was intentional this little boys life will be change now unless they bring out some magical medicine why shouldnt she be done for manslaughter .

Cos he's alive, manslaughter requires a dead body.
