Widescreen Gaming

Hey guys,
Does anyone know of any software that'll insert black bars down the sides of my widescreen monitor, rather than stretching the game.
I'm trying to play max payne 2, but it's stretching the image

I have a HannsG 19" widescreen and an ATI x1800xt

ok... sorry if this sounds pretty stupid, but i can't find the option in the ati control center, and i downloaded powerstrip, but can't work out how to make it put bars at the sides

Can't seem to see anything about display adapter scaling....

I tried setting max payne to 1440x900 which is the native resolution of the monitor, but it still appears stretched, looks the same as when it's set to 1024x768

Downloaded the driver from hannsg too, but it just contains an inf file, which i don't know what to do with...
