Any suggestions on a widescreen and GPU combo: Around £350 to spend - may be able to get a little more.

Gaming and surfing only, virtually no movie watching. Must have adjustable screen height.

Thanks

Best value graphics card around would probably be Connect3D ATI X1950 XT 256 mb £140 (or 7950 GT 256 mb if nvidia is your thing) but that only leaves £200 for the monitor which wouldn't quite get a Dell 2007WFP or Samsung 226BW. Belinea 2225S1W 22" is worth a look too.

Acutally you could argue that the 320 mb 8800 GTS (~£190-220ish) is better value than the X1950 XT but that's probably out of your budget and wouldn't leave enough for the monitor.

It all depends what level of gaming performance you're after, what size of monitor you want, and whether you'll put up with the limited viewing angles of TN+Film LCDs, rather than the more expensive MVA/PVA/IPS panels.

I'd suggest paying more for the monitor as you'll be using it for years after the graphics card has been preceded. The x1950 pro is a good average priced card if you cannot get close to the 8800gts prices

As the monitor would not be used as a TV / DVD player, a reduced viewing angle is acceptable.

What is the Viewsonic VA2012W-2 20" like? Looks like a bargain but..
